Julie manages all the farm operations at Lady’s Island Oyster. She is equally at home in the hatchery and on, or under, the water. Julie was born and raised in Nova Scotia and has a Masters degree in Aquaculture specializing in oyster farming. She has nearly two decades of experience in commercial aquaculture, In addition to growing oysters, she has also grown queen conch. Julie is passionate about all things food, oysters and aquaculture and loves the challenge of trying to grow a better oyster, quicker and cheaper.

Frank roberts

Frank is the owner and president of Lady’s Island Oyster which he started in 2009. Frank brings experience to the business from commercial shellfishing, lobstering, and carpentry. He is a retired homicide detective and former USMC Scout Sniper. Lady’s Island Oyster pioneered the South Carolina oyster farming industry and set it on a trajectory to success as a result of characteristics and skills he developed in these positions. Frank keeps all the mechanical systems of the farm running so that Julie can focus on keeping the oysters happy. If you’ve been to the farm and met Frank’s dog Crickett, you certainly won’t forget that experience!
